Results and Standings: 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games Day 1

Catch up on all the action from the first day at the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games!

It was an action packed first day of the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games in Madison, Wisconsin. The day kicked off with the first team event, and concluded in the evening with the women’s second individual event.

We knew this year was going to be exciting with the new scoring system and tough cuts, and moving into the second day the field looks quite different. The individual field started with 148 men,134 women, and 14 teams. And after the first event the individual field was cut down to 75 athletes per division. It didn’t stop there, though. After the second cut (Event 2) the individual field dropped to 50 individual men and 50 individual w0men. There will be 11 teams advancing on to Day 2.

Event 1: Team Assault to Bob

  • 3 rounds:
  • 25/18 air bike calories
  • 30 toes-to-bar
  • Big Bob Push

Results:

Event 2 (First Cut): Individual Men

4 rounds for time of:

  • 400-m run
  • 3 legless rope climbs
  • 7 snatches (185 lb)

Results:

  • First place: Mat Fraser
  • Second place: Chandler Smith
  • Third place: Scott Panchik

Event 3 (First cut): Individual Women

4 rounds for time of:

  • 400-m run
  • 3 legless rope climbs
  • 7 snatches (130 lb)

Results:

  • First place: Tia-Clair Toomey
  • Second place: Karissa Pearce
  • Third place: Jamie Greene

Event 4: Team Rope Worm

For time:

  • 7 synchro rope climbs
  • 42 Worm thrusters
  • 5 synchro rope climbs
  • 30 Worm thrusters
  • 3 synchro rope climbs
  • 18 Worm thrusters

Results:

  • First place: Mayhem Freedom
  • Second place: OC3 Black – 12:52
  • Third place: Central Beasts

Event 5Team Clean and Jerk

1-rep-max clean and jerk

Results:

  • First place: Invictus
  • Second place: Mayhem Freedom
  • Third place: Crossfit Krypton

Event 6 (Second cut): Individual Men

For time:

  • 800-m row
  • 66 kettlebell shoulder-to-overheads (16kg)
  • 132-ft. handstand walk

Results:

  • First place: Mat Fraser
  • Second place: Bronislaw Olenkowicz
  • Third place: Jonne Koski

Event 7 (Second cut): Individual Women

For time:

  • 800-m row
  • 66 kettlebell shoulder-to-overheads (12kg)
  • 132-ft. handstand walk

Results:

  • First place: Danielle Brandon
  • Second place: Brooke Wells
  • Third place: Karissa Pearce

The field now consists of 50 men, 50 women, and 11 teams. Check out an updated list of who made the cuts and will be advancing on to Day 2.
