2023 Wodapalooza Announces $500,000 Prize Purse
Every winter, the Wodapalooza team transforms Miami’s Bayfront into a multi-day fitness festival that attracts people from all over the world. In Sept. 2022, Wodapolooza — an offseason staple in the CrossFit community — announced a new format, a $500,000 prize purse to be spread across divisions, along with their first-ever title sponsor, TYR Sport.
The event, now called TYR Wodapalooza in honor of its new sponsorship, will take place from Jan. 12-15, 2023, marking the 11th year for this growing event. Last year, Wodapalooza had over 40,000 attendees, with 2,000 competitors from 50 different countries.

There are two big notes to make about this updated prize purse, which is spread across the Elite Individuals, Elite Teams, Masters Division, and Adaptive RX:
- There does not appear to be $1,000 event win pay-outs for the Elite Individuals like in 2022.
- The Elite Individual winners will win $25,000 less compared to last year ($100,000), but the Elite Teams prize purse has doubled, as well as first place for the Masters Division.
- Elite Team payouts rose from 2022 by $44,000.
The total payout at Wodapalooza 2022 was $480,000, which included a $1,000 prize to Elite Individuals for each event win and payouts to the top-five Teams for both the women’s and men’s Teams.

New Format
Big changes are on the slate for the Elite Individual and Team Divisions, with the individuals competing for two days on Thursday and Friday (Jan. 13-14, 2023), followed by the Teams on Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 14-15, 2023).
This shortened competition schedule will allow the Elite Individual athletes to also compete in the Team Division, giving them the chance to earn money in both divisions.
It also gives athletes a chance to opt for a shorter, two-day competition if they’re looking to compete without putting too much wear-and-tear on their body during the offseason. The format changes will only effect the Elite Individuals and Teams, as other divisions will still compete across the whole weekend (Friday through Sunday).
New Title Sponsor
TYR Sport is a performance brand that broke on to the CrossFit scene in 2022 by sponsoring some of the biggest names in the CrossFit space — including Annie Thorisdottir, Patrick Vellner, and Guilherme Malheiros. Throughout the competition season, the company promoted a major campaign around the release of their fitness shoes and performance apparel, with the official release being centered around the 2022 CrossFit Games.
