2022 Rogue Invitational CrossFit Event 2 Results — Justin Medeiros and Emma Lawson Win the Ski Bar
Day Two of the 2022 Rogue Invitational opened up later than originally planned due to inclement weather. But when it finally got started, it did provide excitement. Once the rain dissipated, the crowd at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, TX was able to witness a traditional CrossFit workout — with a twist.
That twist, as the athletes found out during the morning athlete brief, was the muscle-ups in Event Two would be done not on a traditional pull-up bar, but rather on a wooden log.

Event Two Results
The event had different results for the women than their male counterparts, as not a single woman completed the workout under the time cap. The women struggled on the muscle-ups due to the width of the wooden log. The men didn’t have as much trouble, with over half of the field finishing with close races in both heats.

Women’s Event Two Highlights
Teenage sensation Emma Lawson showed the Texas crowd that her excellent 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games performance was no fluke, as she almost became the only woman in the field to complete the workout. The Canadian finished her final rep of muscle-ups and was sprinting to the finish line. But time ultimately ran out.
A pair of mothers finished behind the teenager, with Texan Arielle Loewen actually leading for most of the heat. Both she and Kara Saunders finished just two muscle-ups short of finishing the workout.

New HWPO athlete Amanda Barnhart finished fourth, followed by Emma McQuaid.
Lawson’s teenage counterparts Olivia Kerstetter and Anikha Greer struggled in the event, finishing 18th and 20th, respectively.
Men’s Event Two Highlights
Justin Medeiros showed that he’s still in Fittest Man on Earth® form as he rallied ahead of the field, most notably Patrick Vellner and Ricky Garard, to take the event win.
Medeiros, last year’s Rogue Invitational champion, was seventh in his heat after both the muscle-ups and ski-erg. But then he made his move during the main portion of the event, the 80 GHDs.
Medeiros kept a steady pace throughout as the field ahead of him tried catching up with Vellner.

Vellner held a slight lead over him off the second set of Ski Erg calories, but ultimately passed the perennial Games podium finisher on the muscle-ups. He raced to the finish line with a time of 11:00.18. His time was four seconds better than Chandler Smith, who finished the workout in 11:04.54 in the opening heat to secure second place.
Garard, like Medeiros, got stronger as the workout progressed and placed second behind Medeiros in the heat and third overall with a time of 11:08.09. Vellner ended up placing fourth followed by Samuel Kwant.
