Here’s What’s In Bodybuilder Brett Wilkin’s Costco Shopping Cart

“The Butcher” journeys for a plethora of eggs, rice, berries, and more to fuel his diet.

IFBB Open division bodybuilder Brett Wilkin did a “Sunday Funday” errands run and Costco shopping haul and shared a video of it on April 18, 2022. While “The Butcher” is relatively new to the YouTube scene, having started his channel in February 2022, he has already amassed nearly 20,000 subscribers at the time of this article’s publication for his training, diet, and day-in-the-life content.

Wilkin turned pro in 2018 as a Classic Physique athlete. He then competed in the 212 division for a few shows before taking two years off to bulk up for his move to Open bodybuilding. The Iowa native placed second to Hunter Labrada in his debut at the 2021 Chicago Pro and recently finished sixth at the 2022 Arnold Classic in March. Check out his shopping haul at Costco that helped him acquire those gains in the video below:

Wilkin has been training with IFBB pro bodybuilder Iain Valliere and coach Matt Jansen down in Stuart, FL, and plans to relocate from his current home in Denver, CO, to the sunshine state to further his career. He also signed with Raw and Revive supplement brands.

Brett “The Butcher” Wilkin’s Full Day of Shopping

Wilkin’s first stop of the day was the Colorado-based supermarket, King Soopers.

You can’t get everything at Costco.

Wilkin grabbed a few items, including bananas, soda, a jar of almond butter, cinnamon raisin English muffins, strawberry jam, and Ray’s barbeque sauce with no added sugar. The barbeque sauce only has four grams of sugar and fifteen calories per two tablespoons — “it’s almost like a diet hack,” says the mass monster. He likes the muffins and jam together as a low-fat meal that goes down fast.

The Chicken Shake

While on his way to the carwash, Wilkin drank something out of a blender cup, and the contents were not what most would expect. His concoction consisted of nine to 10 ounces of chicken, eleven ounces of chicken broth, and two ounces of sauce for flavoring.

I don’t really advise it to anybody. If you’re able to eat all your food, do it.

Bodybuilders in a bulking phase need to eat a lot of food to be the caloric surplus necessary to put on mass. At 260-plus pounds, Wilkin prefers to have some liquid meals as it’s easier and more convenient to get down.

Costco Haul

Finally, Wilkin made it to the holy grail of bodybuilding nutrition (Costco) to fight through the typical Sunday madness. Wilkin buys a lot of water bottles as hydration is vital for gains. He also likes blueberries for his cream of rice and morning shakes. “The Butcher” picked up a bottle of Naked brand juice for post-workout shakes with protein powder.

Of course, eggs are on every bodybuilder’s shopping list, and Wilkin gets sixty at a time, which lasts approximately a week and a half. He consumes six to seven eggs per day. He’ll also grab a few boxes of liquid egg whites as a pure protein source.  Wilkin also picked up rice — an inexpensive carb source to fuel workouts and gain mass. The total came up to $131.90.

Considering Wilken’s current bulking routine and consumption of chicken shakes, it would be fair to wonder, “where’s the meat?” Wilkin is sponsored by the meal prep company Eat Hungry House of Littleton, CO, which supplies him with nine pounds of chicken and four pounds of beef every week, delivered on Sundays.

That’s a Wrap!

Wilkin’s shopping list is typical of most bodybuilders who maintain relatively healthy diets despite a high density of calories in the off-season. It’s nothing fancy but gets the job done and supplies him with enough calories to train consistently to build his physique. It is unclear when Wilkin will compete next, but when he does, expect the overall package he brings to the stage to be significantly improved on the back of Costco gains and chicken shakes.
